Bakumatsu

The Bakumatsu period marked by young men's unease for their country was an age where worry for its future became the driving force. Takasugi Shinsaku, a soldier of fortune from Choshu, infiltrates an official government ship with Katsura Kogorou to find an "alchemic timepiece", which they fear the government wishes to keep for themselves. Takasugi plans on disarming the artifact, lest its power fall into untrustworthy hands; but once in his hands it quickly vanishes again when stolen; forcing both him and the boy to track its current owner to Kyoto as soon as they find out who it is. Once they arrive at the capital city, however, they discover that Susanoo, an ancient deity has overthrown their government and taken its place. While life may have altered significantly since their first visit there years earlier, their mission to restore order to their nation still stands firm: they plan to reset time by disarming any conspiracies trying to take it over from them.
